Simultaneous interpreting is performed synchronously with the speaker. As a rule, simultaneous interpreting is implemented during conferences, seminars and other meetings with high attendance and requires special equipment for interpreters (specially equipped booths), and also for participants (headphones). Usually there are at least two interpreters, who alternate every 10-15 minutes.
Consecutive interpreting means that the speaker makes logical pauses in his speech, allowing the interpreter to transform what has been said into a foreign language. As a rule, consecutive interpreting is used at low-attendance events — negotiations, presentations, briefings, press conferences, workshops and trainings for small audience.
